Thelma C. Skrede, 98, of Viroqua died Thursday, March 14, 2013 Thelma Skrede, 98, of Viroqua passed away Thursday, March 14, 2013 at Vernon Manor in Viroqua. She was born July 6, 1914 in Viroqua to Ole and Anna (Gabrielson) Ostrem. She was united in marriage to Rudolph (Stump) Skrede on January 25, 1936. After owning and operating the Bud Store, Thelma and Stump farmed in the Town of Jefferson for many years. Thelma also worked at the Pool Warehouse and NCR. Thelma was an active member of her church along with participating in her circle and Bible study. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She loved to cook and bake, always trying that new recipe. The coffee pot was always on and you were always welcome. Thelma is survived by her children: Sonja (James) Martin of Buckeye, AZ, Rodney (Cheryl) and Dennis (Ramona) of Viroqua, Trudy (David) Smith of Oceanside, CA; nine grandchildren: Toni (Ron OConnor), Troy Martin and Traci (Louie Pinkerton), Gina Elliott and Jarod Skrede, Jeff (Louise) and Jay (Donna) Skrede, Nicole (Larry) Hernandez and Courtney (Peter) Pickslay; one step granddaughter, Michelle (Terry) Ostrem; 16 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; one brother, Cliferd Ostrem (Ethel Mae) of Viroqua; sister-in-law, Iona Skrede of Viroqua; half brothers: David Ostrem, Howard Ostrem; half sister, Betty Stalsberg. Thelma was preceded in death by her husband, Stump in 2001; daughter, Audrey Ann at birth; great-grandson, Ryan Martin; brothers: Tilferd and Tilman Ostrem; sisters: Olga Bahr and Alice Nimocks; half brothers: Gary Ostrem and Kenny Ostrem. The family wishes to thank Vernon Manor for the wonderful care she received over the last one and a half years. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, March 17, 2013 at Bad Axe Lutheran Church, rural Viroqua. Pastor Don Greven will officiate with burial in the Bad Axe Church Cemetery.
