Thomas Calvin Wells

Thomas Calvin Wells, age 90, of Viola, Wis., formerly of Milwaukee, Wis., passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Thursday, June 3, 2021. Tom was born December 16, 1930, to Lewis Everett Wells and Pearl Grace (McDonald) at their family home in Barry, Illinois. He graduated high school in 1948 from New Canton High School. Tom worked various jobs in the Pike County, Illinois area for a couple years until he was drafted into the Army during the Korean Conflict. After he came back from the service, he moved to Milwaukee, Wis. where he worked as a construction worker for various companies. While in Milwaukee, he met his wonderful wife of 60 years, Anna Eggers at the local bar and they married May 20, 1961. While in Milwaukee, Tom was always at Anna’s professional bowling tournaments where he would cheer her on. While they were living in Milwaukee, Tom and Ann bought a farm outside of Soldiers Grove where they spent a lot of time deer and mushroom hunting, along with tending to their large garden. They enjoyed when their family and friends would come and spend time with them at the farm, usually (almost always) mushroom hunting. After many years of living in Milwaukee, Tom and Anna sold the farm in Soldiers Grove and moved in Viola, where they would live for 20 years. Tom enjoyed hunting and fishing, gardening, and playing Pitch. He also enjoyed going to the Viola Senior Center, where he would enjoy meals with family and friends while putting together puzzles. One of the most important events was the annual family reunion in Barry, Illinois, which also was to celebrate his mother’s birthday. Everyone who met or knew Tom would say he was the nicest guy around. Tom is survived by his wife of 60 years, Anna; his brother, Lewis II (Gloria) Wells; his sister, Fidella (Bill) Hinch; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Kenneth Wells and his wife; his sisters, Beulah, Ethel, and Edna and all their husbands; an infant daughter, Rosa Lee; and many uncles, aunts, and cousins. Tom’s family would like to thank St. Croix hospice for their loving care. There are no funeral services for Tom at this time. Vosseteig-Larson Funeral Home is serving Tom's family. 123 W.
