VIROQUA/WESTBY/SPARTA Thomas James Larry, age 57, died Tuesday October 31, 2017 at the Tomah Healthcare Center, in Tomah. VIROQUA/WESTBY/SPARTA VIROQUA/WESTBY/SPARTA Thomas James Larry, 57, of Viroqua, died Tuesday, October 31, 2017 at the Tomah Rehabilitation and Care Center where he had been a resident for the last six months. He was born in Sparta, Wisconsin on June 14, 1960 to James and Genevieve (Pearson) Larry. He married Shirley Beaston in 1981 and had one son, Todd. They later divorced. Tom enjoyed going to church and singing Gospel songs and hymns and strumming the guitar. He didnt watch a lot of TV but he loved Hogans Heroes and liked to watch westerns. He loved being around family and friends and being outdoors. He also enjoyed spending time with his good friend Howard (Howie) Abbott Jr. Earlier in his life he spent time at Teen Challenge in Chicago, Illinois and in Cape Girardeau, Missouri which is an adult and teen faith-based treatment and recovery center. He made a decision to follow Jesus when he was young and rededicated his life to him while at Teen Challenge. Tom had several jobs during his life. He lived with and worked as a farmhand for Stanley and Virginia Hanson in rural Sparta. He also worked at Varc and at the Post Office as a janitor (a job which he really liked) and he enjoyed helping out on the farm of his brother-in-law Roger Wangen. The last couple of years he lived at the group home Breezy Meadows in rural Viroqua. Tom is survived by three brothers, Stephen (Jeanie) Larry of Cashton, Bernard (Carolyn) Larry of Viroqua, and Paul Larry of Viroqua and five sisters, Rebecca Wangen of Viroqua, Mary (Wayne) Arnold of Galesville, Clarissa (Greg) Romskog of West Salem, Susan Chase of LaCrosse and DeeAnna Anderson of LaCrosse. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews including: Sheila (Toby) Rhodes, Terry (Julie) Moore, Amber (Steve) Bakke, Wendy Scheven, Marissa Larry, Christopher Wangen, Randy Wangen, Jessi Wangen, Bernard (Elizabeth) Larry Jr., James (Dana) Larry, Angela Larry, Kelly Martinez, Melissa Wilson, Troy ( Erin) Arnold, Tim (Melissa) Arnold, Daniel Arnold, Kathryn ( Brandon) Adams, Jordan Romskog, Joshua Romskog, Julie Leatherberry, Jessica (Jason) Hogenkamp, Brianna Leatherberry, Brandon Leatherberry, Autumn Chase, Austin Petersheim and many great nieces and nephews and cousins. Tom was preceded in death by his son, Todd Larry, a nephew, Jamie Romskog, a brother-in-law, Bradford Leatherberry, his parents, James and Genevieve Larry, sister, Sara Jane Larry, his maternal grandparents, Bernard and Alice Pearson and his paternal grandparents, Jared and Mary Larry, and Michael and Hazel Longoria. Funeral Services for Thomas will be Monday November 6, 2017 at 11:00 A.M. at the Assembly of God Church, at the corner of Rock and Broadway Streets in Viroqua. Pastor Dave Allen and Associate Pastor Roddy Torgerson will be officiating. Friends may call during a visitation two-hours prior to the service from 9:00-11:00 a.m., at the church. Burial will be at the Angelo Cemetery in rural Sparta, following a luncheon at the church. In lieu of flowers or plants, memorials are preferred.
