Tillman Oscar Swenson, age 88 of Viroqua, died on Tuesday, June 20, 2006 at the Vernon Manor Nursing Home in Viroqua. He was born on the family farm in rural Viroqua on July 24, 1917 to Sever and Mary (Tandley) Swenson. He attended Viroqua High School and served in the Army during WWII as part of the Coast Artillery. After the war, he returned to the family farm and farmed until 1993. He moved into Viroqua and resided with his sisters, Elnora and Alma prior to moving to Vernon Manor in 2003. He was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Viroqua and participated in many activities at Vernon Manor. He enjoyed old time music, listening to sporting events on the radio, and was an avid sports and Green Bay Packer fan. He thoroughly enjoyed family gatherings as well. He is survived by his sister Elnora Swenson and sister-in-law Hope Swenson, both of Viroqua; three nephews: David, Roger, and Steve Swenson; two nieces: Eldoris Ekern and Mary Solverson; and several great-nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers: Sigfred, Edwin, and Clifford; one sister Alma Swenson, a nephew Frederick Swenson, and a great-nephew Douglas Swenson. The family is most appreciative of the excellent care Tillman received at Vernon Manor and the friendships he made there. Funeral services for Tillman will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 24, 2006 at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. Pastor Kathryn Ingbritsen will officiate with burial in the Viroqua Cemetery. Friends may call on Friday, from 3 5 p.m. at the Vosseteig-Larson Funeral Home, 123 West Decker (Hwy 56), Viroqua. Friends may also call at the church on Saturday after 9:00 a.m. The Vosseteig-Larson Funeral Home of Viroqua is serving the family.
