Tracy Lynn Lawrence, age 65, was called home to be with the Lord on December 9th, 2025. Born in Rapid City, South Dakota, on July 28th, 1960, to Richard and Glenda Phillips. Tracy grew up with a caring nature, a trait carried with her for the rest of her days. Tracy lived a life marked by grace, resilience, and a deep abiding faith. In 1978, she married Daniel Thoreson, and together they welcomed three children: Angie, Ben, and Trav. Though life brought changes and Dan and Tracy later divorced, Tracy's love for her children remained steady and unwavering. In November of 1995, opening day of deer hunting, Tracy married the love of her life, Gerald "Buck" Lawrence. A day that she often remarked, certainly showed his dedication.
Together, they built a beautiful life rooted in devotion, laughter, and faith. Building their life together and spending time together, especially fishing with Buck, was one of her greatest joys. Together, they built a wonderful life which highlighted their devotion to one another and to God. Tracy's happiest days were spent alongside Buck, her children, and grandchildren. Tracy devoted her working years to caring for others, first as a CNA and later as an RA. Her heart of gold shone through in every interaction, and she treated each of her residents with the same tenderness, dignity, and compassion she showed her own family. Home was her sanctuary, a place she filled with love, comfort, and the kind of warmth only she could create. She poured herself into the meals she cooked, the decorations she put up, and the needs of her family. That love, comfort and warmth was so special and will be cherished for our remaining days.
Tracy is survived by her husband, Buck Lawrence; her children Angie (Leonard) Hatch, Ben Thoreson and Travis Thoreson; her 12 grandchildren; her sister Lori (Dyrke) Althof; her brothers Rick (Sally) Phillips; and Ritchie (Michelle) Phillips.
She was preceded in death by her parents Richard and Glenda Phillips.
Tracy will be remembered for her compassionate spirit, her strength in adversity, her unwavering faith, and the love she poured into her family and everyone she cared for. We rejoice in knowing she is now at peace, healed, and held in the loving arms of our Savior.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 17, 2025, at Vosseteig-Larson Funeral Home in Viroqua.
Tracy's family would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to the Hospice Team of Emplify Health, especially Jason.
