Truman C. Unseth, age 66 of Westby, died Thursday, March 31, 2011. Truman C. Unseth, age 66 of Westby, died Thursday, March 31, 2011 following a courageous battle with cancer. He was born November 14, 1944 to Truman L. and Mildred (Hooverson) Unseth. After graduating from Viroqua High School, he enlisted in the United States Army where he served overseas. He was a power lineman for 32 years, which included working for Price Electric Co-op in Phillips and retired in 2001 as head journeyman for Westby Electric & Water Utility. Truman then worked for Chapman Metering LLC out of Avoca, Iowa until his official retirement in 2007. Truman loved camping, "the cabin", and the outdoors; he was an avid hunter, fisherman and trap shooter. He especially enjoyed spending time with his friends and family. He is survived by his wife Mary (Way); five children: Travis (Kim) of Cashton, Jason (Gina) of River Falls, WI, Sherry of Viroqua, Trevor of Westby and Virginia (DJ) McNamer of Viroqua. Five grandchildren: Megan and Larissa of Cashton, Nicholas, Cassie and Zachary Hirschfield of Viroqua; two grandchildren on the way, expected by Jason and Gina and DJ and Virginia; other relatives and close friends.He is also survived by his mother, Mildred of Genoa; two brothers Arden (Ellen) of Viroqua and Ron (JoAnn) of Genoa; a brother-in-law, Jerry (Carol) Way of Chippewa Falls; a sister-in-law Peggy Way of Coon Valley; and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Truman; father and mother-in-law Raymond and Virginia Way; and brother-in-law Ron Way. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 5, at Westby Coon Prairie Lutheran Church. Pastor Julie Wollman will officiate. Burial with military honors will be the in Coon Prairie Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m., Monday at the Vosseteig Funeral Home, 708 S. Main (hwy 14), in Westby. Friends may also call at the church on Tuesday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at 11. The Vosseteig Funeral Home of Westby is serving the family.
