Vail V. Steele, age 43, of Genoa and formerly of Chicago passed away Sunday, July 3, 2022. Vail (affectionately) known as “Black,” was born July 25th, 1978, in Chicago, IL to Donna Steele and Michael Porter. He was the first child of six children. He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Lucille Steele; grandfather, Robert Crockett; brother, Louis Steele; step father, Atticus Craft; and great aunt, Omelia Corothers. Vail accepted Christ at an early age under the leadership of Rev. J Knox at Church of the Good Shepherd in Chicago, IL. Vail attended Simeon High School. He later moved to La Crosse, WI with his younger brothers, Ronald Steele and Louis Steele. After becoming settled in La Crosse, Vail met the love of his life Olivia Mueller (of 14 years). Together, they opened their shoe store called “Unique Shoes.” Later, Vail decided to start his very own real estate business called, “ Broadview Homes.” In time, his love of the stock market grew and that is what remained his passion until the end. Vail enjoyed life to the fullest. He loved to have fun, cracking jokes, talking about politics and religion with his father in-law (Darrell Mueller), and attending family events. But most of all, Vail enjoyed spending time with Olivia and their cat, who he named “Lotto” because he was black, and Olivia was white. Vail loved volunteering at the Hunger Task Force Kane St. Community Gardens. He felt a great sense of accomplishment giving back to the community. Vail was a very independent and outgoing person who overcame many obstacles. Yet, even with his challenges it didn’t stop him from becoming the man he was. Vail Steele leaves behind cherished memories. His mother Donna Steele; brothers: Ronald Steele, Andre Ellis, and Charlie Scott; sisters: Donna Boyd, Actress Boyd, and Delphian Ellis; girlfriend, Olivia Mueller; nephews and nieces: Christian Bouquet, Alana Bouquet, Ashanti Bouquet, Mahari Randle, Addisyn Steele, Jonathan Steele, Angel Steele, Lucille Steele, De'Jon C, and Jedidiah Perkins; as well as Brian Jones, Cassie Path, Javon Davis, and a host of family and friends.
