Verdel V. Scharping

Verdel Scharping, age 77 of Westby, died Thursday, August 26, 2010. Verdel Vernon Scharping, age 77 of Westby, passed away from cancer at home on Aug. 26, 2010. He has started another adventure, but this time left us behind. He was born in Cashton on August 1, 1933 to Eddie and Elsie (Lueck) Scharping. He was baptized and confirmed at First Portland Lutheran Church. On May 24, 1957 he married Marilyn Oium. He is survived by his wife, Marilyn; children: Vicki (Tom) Brueggen, Kala (Leonard) Rudi, Steven Scharping, Diana (Buck) Leis; Grandchildren: Trisha (Jesse) Mlsna, Nicole (Aaron) Wang, Stephanie Scharping, Jacob Brueggen, Tracy Rudi, Samantha Brueggen, Julia Brueggen, Bryan Rudi, Mark Leis, and Emma Leis; Great-grandchildren: Mason Mlsna, Addison and Alexandra Wang, Landon Mlsna, baby Wang due Sept 2, and baby Mlsna due in November; siblings: Dorothy Will, Verna Marx, Orval (Bernadine) Scharping, Ardella Role, Donna Urbanek, Janet Dunnum, and Ardice (Vernon) Urbanek; sister-in-law, Louise Scharping; lots of relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Eddie and Elsie; mother-in-law, Julia Oium; brother Vernon Scharping; brother-in-laws: Neal Will, Clinton Dunnum, Ellsworth Role, Arthur Marx, Ronald Dunnum, and James Urbanek. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, September 1, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at English Ev. Lutheran Church in Viroqua. Pastor John C. Berg will officiate with burial in the Skogdalen Cemetery. Friends may call on Tuesday afternoon from 3 to 6 p.m. at the Vosseteig Funeral Home, 708 S. Hwy 14 in Westby and at the church on Wednesday from 10 a.m. until the time of service at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers or plants, memorials may be given to the English Ev. Lutheran Church Organ Fund or the Vernon Memorial Hospice. Thanks to all who helped make Verdels journey easier! We cannot say enough " Thanks to Hospice" You are ALL Wonderful.
