Verla M Syverson

Verla M. Syverson, 89, of De Soto, died Friday, December 27, 2013. She was born April 6, 1924 to Sam and Clara (Arneson) Yttri. She attended Sunny Side School. On June 26, 1948, Verla was united in marriage to Burton Miles Syverson. They lived in La Crosse, WI and then in De Soto until her death. Verla was a member of De Soto Lutheran Church. She worked at the Lansing Button Factory in Lansing, IA until her retirement. She enjoyed gardening, her flowers and watching the birds in many feeders, but mostly spending time with her family. She is survived by her husband, Burton Miles Syverson; two children: Judith (Lars) Jorgensen of Minneiska, MN, and Renae (Michael) Wagner of Menomonie, WI; four grandchildren: Leif (Rebecca) Jorgensen of London, England, Luke Wagner of Menomonie, WI, Annika (Jeff) Pittman of Hugo, MN, and Stacy Wagner of Menomonie, WI; one great granddaughter, Freya Pittman of Hugo, MN; one sister, Cleone Ames of Janesville, WI; two brothers: Lowell (Joyce) Yttri, and Ronald Yttri, both of Janesville, WI; and many other loving family members. She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Erma; three brothers: Lyle, Vilas, and Dwain; and one granddaughter, Erika Wagner. Special thanks to all of her caregivers, especially Dee and Kay, for their ongoing care and compassion in Verlas final years. Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, December 31, 2013 at the De Soto Lutheran Church. Pastor Doug Andersen will officiate with burial to follow in the De Soto Lutheran Cemetery. A visitation will be held at the church from 10 a.m. till the time of the service at 11. The Vosseteig-Larson Funeral Home of De Soto is serving the family.
