Vernon Kukes

Vernon Kukes, 65 of Ferryville, died Thursday, August 21, 2014 He was born on June 24, 1949 in Waterloo, IA to John "Jack" and Anna Kukes. He served in the United States Army as an Engineer from 1969 till 1972. He worked as a Boilermaker for local 81. Vernon enjoyed, fishing, hunting and trapping; He also enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. He is survived by his daughter, Sarah (Kris) Krueger of Waukon, IA; his son, Peter (Marilyn) Kukes of Ferryville; grandchildren, Ethan, Sawyer, Kiana and Remig Krueger, Skyler Britt and Dalton Kukes; siblings, Barb (Chuck) Clapsaddle, David (Sherry) Kukes and Diana (Jim) Rasmussen. He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Robert "Bob" Kukes; and by a uncle and aunt. Memorial service will be held at 4 pm on Wednesday, August 27th 2014 at the Vosseteig Larson Funeral Home in DeSoto, with Pastor Grant VanderVelden officiating. Full Military Honors will follow. Visitation will be from 2 pm until the time of the service on Wednesday at the funeral home.
