Verona C. Kellicut, age 97, a resident of the Vernon Manor in Viroqua, died Friday, May 19, 2006 at Vernon Manor. She was born on September 5, 1908 in Vernon County to Walter and Arabelle (Perkins) Hughes and lived in Vernon County most of her life. On March 2, 1927 she was united in marriage to Darwin Kellicut. Verona was a housewife and ran a restaurant in Viola, Wis. She also worked at Freeman Shoes and Fannie Mae in Beloit, Wis. as well as helping her husband Darwin with carpentry work. Verona was a member of the Faith United Methodist Church. She is survived by two sons: Clement (Mary Jane) Kellicut of Beloit and Walter (Karen) Kellicut of Westby; a daughter-in-law, Shari Kellicut of Durand, IL; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; 13 great-great grandchildren; one sister, Leona Melvin; and her sister-in-law, Orpha Hughes. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Darwin; one son, Cecil Kellicut; three brothers: Manlin, Virgil and Austin Hughes. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, May 23, 2006 at 10:00 a.m. at the Vosseteig Funeral Home, 708 S. Hwy 14 in Westby. Pastor Gary Daines will officiate with burial in the Sugar Grove Cemetery. Friends may call on Monday from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Vosseteig Funeral Home in Westby.
