Virginia J. Schroeder

Virginia J. Schroeder, age 86 formerly of Viola, died Monday, November 16, 2009 . Virginia J. Schroeder VIOLA - Virginia J. Schroeder of Viola passed away Monday, Nov. 16, 2009, at Hillview Health Care Center in La Crosse. Virginia was born in the town of Sylvan in Richland County, Wis., to Carr W. and Icie (Walters) Kanable on Feb. 23, 1923. She was the youngest of five children, Leslie, Dale, Russell (Buster) Kanable and Hazel Foreman. Virginia married Robert C. Schroeder in Richland County on May 14, 1942. He preceded her in death on Feb. 25, 1983. She is survived by three children, Jeffrey (Susan) Schroeder of La Crosse, Donald (Barbara) Schroeder of Las Cruces, N.M., and Barbara (Larry) Earle of Sheboygan, Wis.; five grandchildren, Christopher (LeSuong) Cina, Scott (Jenny) Schroeder, Molly (Scott) Mathison, Hilary(Travis) De Bussey and Adria (Joe Brandt) Schroeder; and 10 great-grandchildren, Karra, Gabrielle, Anthony, John Robert Cina, Carson, Camryn, Corbin Schroeder and Megan, Bronsen and India Mathison. Virginia was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was a wonderful cook and was the head cook at Kickapoo High School for a number of years. She enjoyed quilting with her friends and made a quilt for each child, grandchild and great-grandchild. Virginia was a member of Viola Methodist Church and helped with many Horse and Colt Show dinners. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m., Friday, Nov. 20, at Viola United Methodist Church. Visitation will be at the church from 10 a.m. until time of services. Burial will follow in Viola Cemetery and a lunch will be served at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to donor's choice. The family would like to thank the Hillview staff for the excellent and loving care they gave Virginia. The Vosseteig Funeral Home's Henthorn Memorial Center is serving the family.
