Vyrus Huschka

Vyrus Huschka, 89, of Viroqua, died Thursday, August 13, 2015. Vyrus "Vy" Lucille Huschka, 89, passed away on Thursday, August 13, 2015. She was born July 28, 1926 to Frank and Mary (Best) Robinson and lived in the Viroqua area all her life. She attended Viroqua High School, then worked at Ray Jacobsons restaurant and at J.C. Penneys. Vyrus was baptized in 1942 by Rev. Roy Williams at the Church of Christ. She was united in marriage to John E. Huschka on October 31, 1945, and they farmed on the family farm for 30 years before moving to town. They had two sons, Allen L. and John L. After her marriage she transferred her membership to the United Methodist Church. She belonged to UMW, Lydia Circle and Worship Committee, plus she had the job of getting ushers for church services for 12 years. Vyrus loved to cook and bake, and enjoyed sharing her baked desserts with her family, friends, and neighbors. Also she raised a large garden and canned her produce. She loved her family so much, and loved doing things for them. Vyrus is survived by her two sons: Allen (Myrna) Huschka of Richland Center, and John L. (Barb) Huschka of Viroqua; six grandchildren: Cathy (Brent) Smith of Portage, WI, Mark (Martha) Huschka of Shakopee, MN, Kari (Eugene) Davidson of Westby, Gina (Bryan) Bethke of Lacey, WA, Chris (Jessica) Huschka of Viroqua, and Katie (Tim) Elbert of Viroqua. Also surviving are nine great-grandchildren: Crystal, Carolyn, and Colleen Smith, Addison and Lauren Huschka, Kylie and Allie Huschka, Ashlyn and Riggins Davidson; great-great-grandson, Caleb Smith; several nieces and nephew, and many friends. Vyrus was preceded in death by her husband, John, after 66 years of marriage; her parents, Frank and Mary Robinson; two brothers: Kenneth of Stoddard, WI, and Laurence of Michigan; four sisters: Frances Duncan of California, Dorothy Jennings of Viroqua, Jennie Buckles of Viroqua, and Jeniece Glynn of Desoto, WI. Funeral Services will be held at 11am on Monday, August 17, 2015 at the Viroqua United Methodist Church. Pastor Jean Waldron will officiate with burial to follow in the Viroqua Cemetery.
