Wallace M. Berg, 79, of Westby died August 2, 2011 Wallace Martin Berg, 79, of Westby died August 2, 2011 at the Bethel Home in Viroqua. He was born in Monroe County on December 4, 1931 to Martin C. and Inga (Olson) Berg. On August 2, 1958 he married Marie Bohland at Retreat Methodist Church. Wallace farmed until 1990 and then worked for Smith Ranch. He took care of the Westby Park and also worked for the City of Westby and Vernon Electric. He was a member of Skogdalen Lutheran Church and served on the church council. He is survived by his wife, Marie; two children: Mark (Rhonda) Berg of Cashton and Mary (Harlyn) Knutson of La Crosse; three grandchildren: Amanda Knutson of La Crosse, Abi (Caleb) Aswegen of Pennsylvania and Spenser Berg of Cashton; two sisters: Lorraine (Orville) Stendahl of Chaseburg, Hazel Bjornstad of Cashton; brother-in-law, Gale (Shirley) Bohland of Green Bay; three sisters-in-law: Bea (Leonard) Olson of Coon Valley, Lenice White of Florida, Nancy Bohland of Illinois; many nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Martin Berg on January 11, 1981; mother, Inga Berg on June 8, 1997; niece, Lynn Paulson; brothers-in-law: Gerald Bjornstad, Marion Bohland and Don White. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 on Saturday, August 6, 2011 at Skogdalen Lutheran Church, rural Westby. Reverend Stephen Minnema with officate with burial in the Skogdalen Cemetery. Friends may call on Friday from 4-6 p.m. at the Vosseteig Funeral Home, 708 S. Main Street (Hwy 14 S.) in Westby. Friends may also call at the church on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. The Vosseteig Funeral Home of Westby is serving the family.
