Walter W. "Kelly" Kellicut

Walter W. “Kelly” Kellicut, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and community member, peacefully passed away at the age of 88 on Thursday, July 3, 2025, at Norseland Nursing Home in Westby, Wisconsin. Born on September 19, 1936, in Vernon County, Walter was the son of Darwin and Verona (Hughes) Kellicut.

On June 14, 1958, he married Karen Ilene Peterson, and together they raised two wonderful children, Tracy of La Crosse, WI and Nicole (Aaron) of West Salem, WI. Walter's joy was multiplied with the arrival of his grandchildren, Joshua and Camille, and he also shared a special bond with Aaron's children, Bennett and Shelbie.

For 11 years, Walter worked at General Motors in Janesville, after which he pursued the dream of farming, dedicating 25 years to cultivating the land. Concurrently, he worked for Elmer Knitt and the Soil Conservation Department in Viroqua, WI. His industrious spirit led him to work for Gronning Co. for several years and then at S&S Cycle for six years until his retirement.

Retirement did not slow Walter down; instead, it opened up new avenues for his creativity and passion. Alongside friends and family, he built a beautiful log house on a portion of his farm, where he lived for many years. Walter relished the simple pleasures of life, like maintaining a bountiful garden, engaging in hunting and fishing, and enjoyed spending time at Chetek Lake with his family.

Walter and Karen enjoyed camping and traveling, sharing memorable journeys to the west coast with their children. His service to the community was evident through his role as past president of Bethany Lutheran Church in Esofea, where he also served as a council member at various times.

Walter was preceded in death by his wife Karen, parents, Darwin and Verona, and his brothers, Clement "Clem" and Cecil Kellicut. His memory will be forever cherished by his surviving family, including many nieces and nephews.
