Walter �Walt� Griffin

June 6, 1941 — December 16, 2006

Walter "Walt" Griffin, age 65, of Westby, died Saturday morning, December 16th, 2006, at home, after a battle with cancer. He was born June 6, 1941 to Walter and Ruth (Gill) Griffin who previously passed. He was a pilot and enjoyed flying and reading books. He served in the Army from 1961-64 then farmed for many years. He was a teacher in Racine and Westby school systems for many years and had also taught beginning pilots. He is survived by his wife, Kathy; his daughter Raeanna (Scott) Fraser of Rockport, Maine; his son, John (Mary Jo) Griffin of Westby; his brother, John (Marie) Griffin of Lynnfield, Massachusetts; a brother-in-law, David (Gene) Standiford of St. Germain, WI; a sister-in-law, Pat (Thomas) Casterson of Burlington, WI; and 4 grandchildren, Claire and Cale Griffin of Westby and Jesse and Jeremy Fraser of Rockport, Maine; and many nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be on Wednesday, December 20, 2006 10:00 a.m. at St. Marys Catholic Church in Coon Valley. Father Wayne Kidd will celebrate the Mass with burial in the Vang Cemetery. Friends may call at the Vosseteig Funeral Home, 708 S. Hwy 14 in Westby on Tuesday from 5-7 p.m. and on Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. until departing for the church at 9:30 a.m. The Vosseteig Funeral Home of Westby is serving the family.
