Wanda L. Schneider

Wanda L. Schneider, age 76 of Soldiers Grove, died Sunday, December 14, 2008. Wanda L. Lange Schneider, age 76 of Soldiers Grove, died Sunday, December 14, 2008 at Vernon Memorial Hospital in Viroqua, Wisconsin after a four year battle with rheumatoid arthritis and loss of pulmonary function. She was born February 2, 1932 in Clinton, Iowa to Marion (Tolson) Lange and Gerhardt C. Lange. Wanda grew up in Clinton County, Iowa and was a graduate of Lyons, Iowa High School class of 1948. She was also a graduate of Jane Lamb School of Nursing in Clinton, Iowa as a registered nurse. She married Donald R. Schneider on August 27, 1951.Wanda and Don moved to Illinois and farmed in Thomson, IL and Mt. Carroll, IL. Wanda was employed for many years at Good Samaritan Nursing Home in Mt. Carroll, IL. After buying a farm in Gays Mills, Wisconsin, they lived in the Gays Mills and Soldiers Grove communities for the past 32 years. Wanda retired from Sannes Skogdalen Nursing Home after 25 years of employment.Wanda is survived by her husband, of 57 years, Donald R. Schneider, Sr.; sons: Donald R. Schneider, Jr. and wife, Rita of Clinton, Iowa, Douglas R. Schneider of Norwalk, CT; daughters: Wendy L. Schneider Allard and husband, Richard of Pass Christian, MS and Sally Schneider Knuth of Rio, WI; sister, Barbara Lange Baker of Duncanville, TX; brother, Paul Lange of Bellvue, IA. She is also survived by ten grandchildren: Sarah Schneider Tucker, Catherine Schneider Stepper, Joseph Schneider, Samuel Schneider, Anne Schneider, Douglas L. Schneider, Rachel Schneider, Annette Allard, Stephen Allard, and Thomas Allard; three great-grandchildren: Hannah Tucker, Abigail Tucker and Joshua Stepper. She was preceded in death by her parents, Marion Tolson Lange and Gerhardt C. Lange; infant daughter, Carol Ruth Schneider; grandson, Kyle Reid Schneider; brother, Larry O. Lange; son-in-law, Bryce Knuth. Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 22, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at the English Ev. Lutheran Church, 741 N. East Ave. in Viroqua. Pastor John C. Berg will officiate. A visitation will be held on Saturday, December 20, 2008 from 3 to 5 p.m. at the Pape Funeral Home, 2308 Pershing Blvd. in Clinton, Iowa. An additional visitation will be held on Sunday, December 21, 2008 from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Vosseteig-Larson Funeral Home, 123 W. Decker (Hwy 56) in Viroqua. Friends may also call at the church one hour prior to the services on Monday. In lieu of flowers or plants, memorials are preferred. The Vosseteig-Larson Funeral Home of Viroqua is serving the family.
