Wayne Alton Peterson

Wayne Alton Peterson, age 61 of 231 S. Rusk Viroqua, died peacefully at home early Tuesday, July 18, 2006. He was born on February 24, 1945 in LaCrosse, WI to Alton and Marjorie (Fortney) Peterson. He graduated from Viroqua High School in 1963. He then served in the Army and was discharged as a 1st Lieutenant. Later, he graduated from the University of Wisconsin LaCrosse with a degree in business. He worked in sales and marketing in the Dallas, TX area. After his health started to fail, he returned to Viroqua. Wayne will always be remembered for his great athletic ability and love of sports. His friendly personality and love of life will be missed by all who knew him. Wayne is survived by his mother, Marjorie of Viroqua; his brother, Alan (Sue) of DeSoto; and sisters, Terena Heefner of Coral Springs, FL; and Marna (Mark) Matthews of Black River Falls. He is further survived by his nieces and nephews: Zach (Jessica), Andrew, and Tara Heefner; and Ali and Aaron Matthews. He was preceded in death by his dad, Alton Peterson. A memorial service will be held on Friday, July 21 at 6:30 p.m. at the Vosseteig-Larson Funeral Home, 123 West Decker (Hwy 56) in Viroqua. Pastor Lindsay Jordan will officiate. Friends may call on Friday from 4 6:30 p.m. at the Vosseteig-Larson Funeral Home. In lieu of plants and flowers the family requests memorials to Vernon Memorial Hospital Wellness Center. The Vosseteig-Larson Funeral Home of Viroqua is serving the family.
