WESTBY / VIROQUA Wayne D. Tollefson, age 84, of Arizona and formerly of the Westby and Viroqua area, died Wednesday May 3, 2017. Wayne Dale Tollefson, age 84, died Wednesday, May 3, 2017 at the Oasis Pavilion Nurse and Rehab in Casa Grande, Arizona where he had been a resident for several years. He was born on June 14, 1932 in Viroqua, WI to Lewis & Aleda (Lewison) Tollefson. He was baptized and confirmed at Viroqua Main Street Lutheran Church and attended school in Viroqua. Wayne lived with Clayton and Bea Chambers in Westby most of his life. He worked on local farms, helped with carpenter work and in later years at VARC, a job that he loved. Wayne enjoyed riding bike and visiting with people along the way. Wayne looked forward to going to high school baseball games. He attended Westby Coon Prairie Lutheran Church where he enjoyed ushering. Wayne is survived by his one brother, Graydon (Shirley) Tollefson; two sisters, Fae Zitzner and Pat (Phil) Wistenberg. He is further survived by: many nieces and nephews, whom he loved dearly. Wayne is also survived by many of the families that Bea babysat for, who he considered as family. He was preceded in death by his parents; other family members, Bea (Clayton) Chambers, Thelma (Freddie) Nechkash, Delores (Harley) Slater, LaVerne Tollefson and Lloyd Zitzner. Blessed be our memory of Wayne Dale Tollefson. Funeral services for Wayne will be on Wednesday, May 10, 2017 at 11:00 A.M. at Westby Coon Prairie Lutheran Church. Pastor Julie Wollman will officiate with burial following the service at Viroqua Cemetery. Friends may call during a visitation from 10:00 to 11:00 A.M. at the Church prior to the service. In lieu of flowers and plants memorials may be made to Vernon Memorial Hospice House or Westby Coon Prairie Lutheran Church.
