Wesley Oldenburg

Wesley Oldenburg, 85, of Viroqua, died Wednesday, April 19, 2017. Wesley Carl Oldenburg, age 85 of Viroqua, WI went to be with his Lord on April 19th, 2017 at the Oldenburg family farm. He was born March 22, 1932 in La Crosse, WI to William H. and Anna (Schock) Oldenburg. On August 16, 1952 Wesley married Marie Ann Manske. The Oldenburg Family Farm, established in 1878, was Wesleys home his entire life, where he farmed and raised his family. Wesley served as the chairman of the town of Harmony, board member of the Coon Valley Telephone Co., and Chaseburg Farmers Union Co-op. He was baptized into a relationship with Jesus Christ in 1943 at the Viroqua Church of Christ. He was a lifelong church member and served as a deacon. In addition to his wife Marie, Wesley is survived by his children: Jane Oldenburg of Lake Delton WI, James (Nanette) Oldenburg of Viroqua WI, Barbara (Ben) Hoffland of Sparta WI, and Loren (Linda) Oldenburg of Viroqua WI and grandchildren: Luke, Malena (Nic), Mark (Britt), Wesley, Miranda, Matthew, Kathryn, Stephen, and Kirstin and great-grandchildren: Greyson, Emersyn, Nolan, Collins and Lilia. Also surviving are a sister, Bernice Cade of Lincoln IL, a step-sister Mary Ann (Jack) Haun of Indianapolis IN, a brother-in-law Gerald (Judy) Manske and Lawrence Oldenburg along with many other cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Arnold (Helen) Oldenburg, brother-in-laws George Weber, Bob Cade, Eldred (Marge) Manske and Rueben (Marge) Manske. Blessed be our memories of Wesley. Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, April 24, 2017 at the Viroqua Church of Christ. Reverend Ray Matteson will officiate with burial to follow in the Viroqua Cemetery. Friends may call during a visitation on Sunday, April 23rd, 2017 from 3:00 until 6:00 p.m. at the Vosseteig-Larson Funeral Home (123 W. Decker, Hwy 56) in Viroqua, WI. Friends may also call at the church on Monday from 10 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m. In lieu of plants or flowers, memorials may be directed to the Viroqua Church of Christ (825 Nelson Parkway).
