Winnifred Stigen

Winnifred I Stigen, 90, of Viroqua, died on Friday, December 8, 2017. She was born January 19, 1927 in Westby, WI, the only child of Oscar and Ruby (Lee) Stigen. Winnie graduated from Viroqua High School in 1945. She worked as a nurses aide at La Crosse Lutheran Hospital before attending school in Minneapolis. She first completed a laboratory technician course and then went on to graduate as a registered nurse from Northwestern Hospital in 1953. Winnie worked at Vernon Memorial Hospital for 32 years, retiring in 1986. She moved to Maplewood Terrace assisted living before moving to Bethel Home in 2009. Winnie was proud of her Norwegian heritage. Winnie is survived by her Bethel Home family and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and several aunts and uncles. Funeral Service will be held at 1pm on Tuesday, December 12, 2017 at the Vosseteig-Larson Funeral Home (123 W Decker/ HWY 56) in Viroqua. Pastor Yvonne Marshall will officiate with burial to follow in the Coon Prairie cemetery. Friends may call from 12pm till the time of service at 1.
